16. used to used to VS. be/get used to–ing

use 하면 제일 먼저 떠오르는 의미는 ‘사용하다’ 입니다.

제인은 이 컵을 매일 사용해.
Jane uses this cup every day.
저희는 이 컴퓨터를 더 이상 사용하지 않아요.
We don’t use this computer anymore.
너 어제 내 펜 썼어?
Did you use my pen yesterday?
이렇게 use를 사용하다 라는 의미로 사용할 때만 익숙했다면

과거를 이야기 하는 또 하나의 방법 used to + 동사원형

~했었어. (지금은 아니야.)
~ 안 했었어. (지금은 그래.)

이렇게 현재와는 달랐던 과거 어느 한때의 이야기를 할 때 used to 를 사용할 수 있습니다.

긍정문

저는 예전에 파리에 살았었어요.	I used to live in Paris.
Mike는 제 베프였어요.	Mike used to be my best friend.
Jane 은 긴 머리를 가졌었지.	Jane used to have very long hair.
우리는 매일 TV를 봤었어.	We used to watch TV every day.
우리 고양이가 한 때 한 귀여움 했지.	My cat used to be super cute.

부정문

Tom은 올리브를 좋아하지 않았어.	Tom didn’t use to like olives.
내가 이렇게 뚱뚱하진 않았었는데.	I didn’t use to be this fat.
Mike는 커피를 마시지 않았었어.	Mike didn’t use to drink coffee.
Mike는 이렇게 불친절한 사람이 아니었어요.	Mike didn’t used to be an unfriendly person like this.

의문문

걔네 런던에 살았었어?	Did they use to live in London?
너 서울에서 일했었어?	Did you use to work in Seoul?
엄마 나도 어렸을 땐 귀여웠었어?	Did I use to be cute?
너 제인을 싫어했었어?	Did you use to hate Jane?

익숙함을 표현 하는 used to
익숙하다 be used to ~ing / be used to+명사
익숙해 지다 get used to ~ing / get used to + 명사

난 혼자 사는 게 익숙해.	I’m used to living alone.
Tom 은 이런 더운 날씨에 익숙하지 않아.	Tom is not used to hot weather.
이 날씨에 익숙해지고 있어.	I’m getting used to this weather.
지금은 익숙해졌어.	I got used to it.
익숙해 질거야.	You will get used to it.
